Four 12-year-old boys living on earth discover they are descendants of Duncan, the capitol of the realm of dreams.  A sinister sorcerer named Ba will stop at nothing to renew a bloody war between Duncan and its old adversaries in Algol, first city of the land of nightmares, hoping to destroy both places.  The boys, along with a mysterious Duncan warrior named Pratt and his daughter Jennifer, are the only ones who can stop Ba…IF they can locate and master their talismen, powerful magic weapons that can help as well as destroy their users.

 

 

Brief Desciprtion:   A series based on young fantasy and presented in both novels and graphic novel format.  Four boys, all born on the same day also share the fact that they do not dream...until one night, when they all share the same horrific nightmare.  The boys are brought together and find out that they hold the secret to stopping an ancient evil.

Key Elements:   Fantasy, adventure, horror, warriors and swords, magic, brave girls, cute boys, strong adults.

Association:  TALISMEN is an unique new series, but certainly owes a debt to contemporary young reader fantasy-adventures like HARRY POTTER, THE MAGIC TREE HOUSE, and THE DARK IS RISING, as well as established classics like THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA and THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH.  There is also the spookiness, monsters, strong young females and handsome brave young males that can be found in series like GOOSEBUMPS, BABYSITTER’S CLUB, and THE BAILEY SCHOOL KIDS.

 Format:   The TALISMEN adventures are created for both the novel and comic book media.  Each adventure will be available as a young reader paperback and as three-issue comic book mini-series.  Graphic novels collecting each mini-series are also a possibility.
